Something to note, though, is that the 3.5 EcoBoost started out as a naturally aspirated V6 that Ford later threw some turbos onto. It's an open deck design, all aluminum block, forged crank but powdered rods and hyper pistons. The 2.7/3.0 Nano engines were designed from the ground up to be turbocharged.

The 3.0L V6 Powerstroke engine is the only diesel engine in the F-150 lineup. This engine is turbocharged and it makes 250 horsepower at 3,250 rpm and 440 pound-feet of torque at 1,750 rpm. The 3.0-liter diesel engine uses a roller finger follower valvetrain, a compression ignition system, and common rail for fuel delivery.

Also - you will see a horsepower increase allegedly using premium fuel but you are not expected to use premium. You can definitely use regular fuel. 7. level 2.
These issues aren’t exactly new to The Blue Oval, which experienced similar problems with the twin-turbo Ford 3.0L V6 EcoBoost engine used in the Ford Explorer ST, which is essentially a bored and stroked version of the 2.7. Now, those problems are once again surfacing in certain examples of the sixth-generation Bronco, too.
